How do you tell if your item is glitched or not?

Almost everyone has gotten a new item and gone to their buddies to ask them "is this glitched?", and many of the people who ask this question can be told lies or simply "idk". There are lots of people who lie about the rarity of items and about glitched items or just don't know themselves. Use this guide to help you tell the difference between glitched items and their regular counterparts.

Please note this guide only lists how to find the difference between glitched items and regular items, and does not list their rarity value. You will have to look elsewhere if that's what you're here for.

Glossy Wings

There are two versions of the cupid wings item. The first set, the initially released one, has white highlights; these are the 'glossy' ones. These are quite valuable. There is a second version, released after, that has highlights that are simply a lighter color than the base.
For instance, in the picture below, the ones on the left are glossy, while the ones on the right are regular.

However, with some colors - namely pink, blue, and green - people get mixed up much more easily. As you can see in the picture below, the base color is lighter, so it's harder to tell the difference between the regular pale highlight and the glossy white.

In the picture below, the ones on the left are glossy, while the ones on the right are regular.

So, how can you tell the difference in those cases?

The best method when in doubt is to take a screenshot, paste it into MS Paint, zoom in, and use the color picker on the highlight. If they are truly glossy, the highlight will be quite clearly white or extremely close to white. If they're not, it will simply be a paler shade of the base color.
Alternatively, if you are unable to use that method or you are short on time, you can zoom in using your browser's zoom setting and take a closer look at what color it is. The Animal Jam Wiki page for Cupid Wings contains pictures of all the color variations, both glossy and regular.

Sometimes there is the added benefit of the trader having both the glossy and the regular wings on trade, so you can directly compare. This is not always the case, but you might get lucky.
Please note that the white cupid wings do not have a glossy variety, as their colors did not change when they were re-released. Because of this, all white cupid wings are valued the same as any regular cupid wings.

Glossy Wings (Black)

Like the other cupid wings, black ones have two different versions. However, the initial version, the one released with the rest of the glossies, does not have a completely white highlight, just one that is slightly lighter than that of the regular ones.
As you can see in the picture below, where the ones on the left are regular and the ones on the right are glossy, the difference is even harder to pick up on than the other glossies:

As stated in the previous section, the best way to tell the difference is to take a screenshot, paste it into MS Paint or another drawing program, and use the eyedropper to see what color it is. You can also zoom in and compare the color. The Animal Jam Wiki page for Cupid Wings contains pictures of all the color variations, both glossy and regular.

Beta Tiara

There is a variant of the tiara, widely known as the beta tiara. It looks almost exactly like the green tiara in stores, only it has a blue gem and not a red gem. Many Jammers use the regular one for scamming, so make sure you're trading for the right one!

Beta Hood

The beta version of the arctic hood, the color that was sold exclusively during beta testing, is very valuable. However, it has two non-beta lookalikes which can lead to confusion, intentional scamming, and unintentional rip-offs.
In the picture below, the one on the far left is the true beta hood, while the centre and right are lookalikes.

The true beta hood is teal and has a green eyepiece. You can rule out the lookalikes because one of them has a green eyepiece but is just plain blue, while the other one is teal but has a black eyepiece

Glitched Ring

There are 2 types of glitched rings in Animal Jam. They were both sold the first day they were available, and after awhile, they were replaced with 8 new colors.

One of the glitched rings
This is the other glitched ring. It has a much more subtle difference.

Regular
Glitched
The glitched one has markings that are darker than the rest of the base, while the regular one has markings that are lighter than the rest of the base.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Beta Blanket

Like the beta tiara, the old blanket comes in a beta version. It is rather high in demand and hard to get. Some Jammers try to scam with the buyable version from the Shiveer Shoppe, so don't get mixed up.

Regular
Beta
As you can see, the beta blanket has a much paler base color.

Yeti Face

When the Yeti Face first came out, it was glitched. If you tried to change the colour, it wouldn't. So if you bought it, you'd end up with what is now a glitched yeti face.
There is only a slight color difference, and many Jammers get them mixed up, so some people saythe non-glitched one is glitched in order to scam Jammers. While the regular variant is still variant, it is not valued as much as the glitched yeti face.

Be sure not to fall for this trick!

Ornament Earrings

Just like the yeti face, when the ornament earrings were first released, they had a glitched version. Some Jammers use them to scam others, so make sure you're trading for the right one! Remember, the glitched one is more of an aqua-blue, while the regular is pine-green

Jamaaliday Branch Antlers

Just like the yeti face and ornament earrings, when these first came out, they were glitched. A trick to telling the glitched one from the regular one is that the glitched one has browner stripes, while the regular has slightly pinker stripes.
