flowergirl22344 (Non-member) + SWS Academy

Hello Jammers! Cerise here with another scammer. This girl was in Jamaa Township advertising for a spike giveaway at her den. She said in the advertisement that it was trusting, so I went to check it out.

When I got there, there were only 2 other people there. The girl switched into her penguin, and she talked extremely slow. I'm assuming she was multi-tabbing.

I told her trusting was against the rules, yet she refused to stop. The people continued to trust her, even though I told them they risked getting scammed. The girl asked me to "plz trust your wrist i dont want only admiral to do it". Also known as LITERALLY SAYING "ADMIRAL'S ITEMS SUCK I WANT YOURS".

Admiral also told me in Jam-A-Gram to trust my wristband, which leads me to believe she and flowergirl are the same person or scamming partners.

The case ended when flower locked her den, and, surprise surprise, Admiral was not among the people to get locked out. Coincidence? I think NOT!

Now to the last part of this post.
Some of you may have noticed I haven't been doing the SWS Academy courses, and I have a reason for that. Instead of the courses, I will be releasing a document about 4 pages long. I have combined the lessons of each course onto the textbook. I'll leave recruits a few days to read through the document and study for the final exams that will determine whether they pass or not.
More on this tomorrow.

The Philosophy of Scamming ~ Viewers, please comment feedback

(Warning; Long Post Ahead)
It seems that, in every server, there is a scammer. The question is, why would they take away the most precious element, trust, for a mere pixels?

If you look in the dictionary, scam is defined as ‘a dishonest plan, usually to get money.’ However, in Animal Jam, it would be defined as a ‘dishonest plan to get rares or betas’. The words ‘scamming’ and ‘scammer’ stem from that word. We define ‘scamming’ as a verb ‘to carry out the dishonest plan (scam)’ and ‘scammer’ as ‘the person who carries out the dishonest plan ‘scam’.

Now that we have clearly defined the meanings, we can get on to the ‘why’ part.
Why do they scam? I speculate the reason is because of greed. They want the rares/betas for themselves. Let’s face it, all humans are selfish. We all want the best for ourselves, and if we see something that some else has, we get envious. Envy is defined as ‘feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc’. The feeling can have a positive or negative affect on your actions.

The positive and negative effect comes from motivation. Motivation drives you forward to achieve what you want. However, this leads to a fork in the path. You can either work hard and honestly to achieve that dream item, or you can cheat and deceive others. After all, they all have the same result in the end, right? Wrong. Though you have the same item, the feelings you create/have are different. If you work hard for the item, and you finally get it, you feel exhilarated. You feel like you’ve climbed the highest mountain and made it all the way to the tippy top. You feel like all the hard work has paid off, all the setbacks you have encountered were worth it.
But if you got the item dishonestly, you will not feel the emotions I have described. Sure, you might feel happy about it, but you do not experience your work being paid off, and guilt is still lurking in the corner. Scammers think that this way is a ‘short cut’ up the mountain. But this ‘short cut’ is filled with brambles, thorns, steep cliffs, and most importantly, guilt.

We humans have many feelings, and guilt is one of them. However, guilt and shame are different (to make this clear, here are 2 sentences I have found that define them; ‘I feel shame for who I am’ and ‘I feel guilt for what I did’. Everyone has felt guilt in their lives, whether it is stealing candy from the candy jar, watching TV when you’re not supposed to, etc. But wait! Isn’t Animal Jam a virtual world? Virtual worlds simply don’t exist in real life! So why do all those scammers break someone’s heart for those meager pixels? Haven’t they heard that trust is easy to take, but near impossible to gain (that rhymes)? That’s one great mystery there. I don’t think having the most rare item on AJ get you straight A’s on your report card, or land you a job. This sounds illogical here. But to be fair, let’s try to think of it from the scammers’ point of view.

To them, having the rarest item is EVERYTHING. They probably think of it all day and night, fascinated by the dreams they think they will achieve. I know y’all viewers are thinking, ‘why don’t they use the darn trading system like everyone else?! It’s there for a reason!’ Heh, at this point I’ll have a barrage of scammers exclaiming things like, ‘I don’t have the betas/rares to trade for it!’ etc, but that is NO excuse for cheating someone out like that. Everyone else can get by with the trading system, so why can’t they? Well, to be blunt, scammers are ‘addicted’ to Animal Jam. It’s not like a drug addiction, but it’s almost the same. Your dreams are enraptured by the game, and your senses are snared in. It’s like you’re glued to the computer, unable to leave, because, oh look, a wolf party is coming on in a hour! How about I stay awhile? I know there are others who are also ‘addicted’ to Animal Jam but they aren’t like scammers. Because the scammers know they are doing the wrong thing, but they can’t help it. Almost like their self-control flew out the window, and thoughts of betas flew in.

After all of that talk, I have thought about the reasons of why scammers scam.

1.    Popularity/Media.

Look at all those famous jammers out there, Snowyclaw, Wolffeycat, Wootmoo, Wisteriamoon, Libertyy, Julian2, etc. They’re all wearing the coolest/rarest items on Animal Jam. Adorned in spikes, worns, and betas, they are the role models for the other jammers that wish to be famous. One might think that having the rarest items might not get you the most viewers, but that is not always the case. Other players look up to them and try to be like them. As they say, ‘Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery’. Having good blogs and excellent videos can make you popular, but since all of the ‘famous’ players have betas and rares, this implies the fact that ‘to be popular, you must have tons of rares’.

2.    Pressure

This is also like the media factor. Your (online, not real life) friends are wearing rares and betas, and you’re left wearing the common items. You feel uncomfortable as you sit down to chat with them in Jamaa Township. I don’t fit in with them, you think as you admire their spikes and headdresses. What can I do? I don’t have rare enough items to trade for one of those headdresses… although… you let your eyes wander over the screen. A player catches your eye, and they are wearing a spike. “Trust me for this spike! I don’t accept!” The wolf sings, and immediately, the yellow trading symbol hangs over his head. Curious, you wait and watch. After a few more minutes, you see the wolf chanting, “Last 10 seconds! Miss Prettylily is winning!” Glancing over to the tiger named Miss Prettylily, you notice that she isn’t wearing much items, only a head flower and a couple of Rare Item Monday rares. A few achievements are plastered on her player card. Interesting… Suddenly, your attention is jerked away by an artic wolf. She is sobbing, crying: “Scammer! He scammed me of my rare purple headdress and worn!” An idea begins creep into your mind, a twinge of guilt as it begins to develop. You try to brush away the guilt, thinking, it's for the best, right? At least I can fit in…
I don't think I need to extend the rest of the scenario for you to know what’s going to happen.

3.    Enraptured

These are the types of scammers who are the scariest, in my opinion. They scam for the pure enjoyment of it. They enjoy cheating others out of their items, delighting in being ‘smarter than them’. One might say these scammers are heartless, or to be blunt, psychopaths (psychopaths are people who can’t feel emotion, but I’m sure there aren’t a lot of people like that in the word, or on AJ for that matter).

To conclude what I’ve just written in a simpler format, I shall use an analogy:

AJ – real world
Scammers – thieves
Rares/betas – gold/money/gems
AJHQ – police
Jammers – people/citizens
SWS and other scam-catching agencies/individuals – volunteer police

Before, the thieves were just ordinary people. But they were driven by greed to get gold/money/gems, so they devised a plan, a scam. Since the police aren’t patrolling 24/7, the thieves take advantage and begin to grow bolder, stealing in ‘broad daylight’ (<- advertising publicly). Many citizens notice this, and since the police don’t really care/have time, they begin to form volunteer police societies/officers. But because the volunteer police do not have the ‘legal right’ to send the thieves to jail, they can only create awareness. And because the thieves are aware that only the official police can stop them, they think that the volunteer police are not a threat. What they don’t realize is, education/awareness is a very powerful factor. The more the citizens are alerted to these thieves, the less valuables will be stolen.

I can conclude this post in many ways, but I have chosen a rhyme and a quote to end this. Before I do that, I would like your feedback, questions or comments on this post.

Signing off,

Agent Fem

Hi! So this is Agent Chihuahua and this is my first post! I'm so happy! I just was invited to the blog so that's why I said a few days ago. Also, sorry for the game pad in this picture but I couldn't get another picture.

Ok, so I was out in Jamaa a few days ago and saw an advertisement for a non-rare headdress giveaway. I went there and she said trade me and stuff like I promise I will say no.

She later accepted betas from my buddy. She then locked us out.

Hey guys! Agent Shiver here with an obvious scammer, may11200isawesome.

So I got a jam-a-gram from her while I was in the Jamaa Township to go to her den, so I went.

As soon as I got there, she asked me if I would trade her my elf tail armor. I looked on her trade and saw that she had a necklace. I asked her if she had anything better and she said, "I wanted to see if it actually tells me that you're trading me a diamond item."

I told her no and she kept bugging me about it by jam-a-gramming me "Come party with me!". After awhile, she must've raged so much that she decided to log out.

Hey its Electro here with a scammer! Her username is hbhangu and her suspected backup is yomommy.

here she is saying, " gift me a wood floor and I'll gift you more then one spike"
Sure you will...

I asked her to put the spikes on trade and of course she said gift only.
I called her a scam and a suspected backup of hers, yomommy came and said she wasnt a scammer. I asked them to move around at the same time and they refused, saying that moving around all at once "glitched her computer"

Academy Updates + Agent Seeker Fired

Going to make this short and sweet. Agent Seeker (rookie) has been charged with scamming and, well, insulting. Here are the pictures, 7 out of 9 agents voted for her to be fired, yadda yadda yadda.

An agent who I will keep unnamed asked her to join her scamming team (as a test), and Seeker gladly accepted. That's when I ran in and confronted her, trials were held immediately after.

she said this while I was my monkey. way to be inclusive.

she said this after she got fired.

Anyways, I'll be hosting courses throughout the next week. The schedules will be posted UNDER THE SWS TIME ON THE LEFT OF THE POSTS. There will be no other announcements made.

Scammer Goldmine #35

Its Electro with another goldmine. Today we got some new recruits and our new recruit agent cub        (thesmartwolfpup) found a big trust trade party, so kudos to you.

SWS Academy

Last night I got a bunch of new recruits, all of which proved their worth and got accepted into the society! With that done, I am rebooting the SWS Academy.

Here's how it will work; through the next 2 weeks, I will make posts scheduling courses being hosted in the SWS HQ in the academy classroom. The courses are optional to attend, but it is suggested you attend them to learn all you can. Anyways, after the 2 weeks is over and all the courses have been taught, it is time for the graduation ceremony. Before the graduation, each student will be given a list of jobs they are eligible to take when they graduate; this list varies depending on which courses you attended. Each job requires a certain set of courses to take, so if you attended every single course, you're eligible to take any job, while if you only took a few courses, your choices are limited.
Each course will be hosted twice, allowing for recruits to fill in if they missed a course they wanted to take.

The first course is tday, all recruits and any other agents are welcome to come on in and attend.

Day: Saturday, 25th of July
Time: 1:00 PM AJSWS Time (PST)
Place: ShadowclawXX's den

Click read more to see list of jobs and courses.

Long post coming up, avert thy eyes children!
This guy was in Jamaa Township asking if people wanted their items tripled - which is bad either way, because if they really can triple your items, they're hacking.
Anyways, I said I did and he told me to come to his den. Electro followed.

I asked what we had to do to get our items tripled and we said we wanted our spikes tripled. He then told us to trade it to him.

We got pictures and he locked us out. But the story continues.

Electro took him to her den in a disguise, and asked him to be her scamming buddy. This started with her asking 'so do you like scale?' He ended up saying 'i do', that was when Neon and I rushed in and confronted him.

We continued arguing (we still are as I am typing this), and he kept saying "lol nobody is gonna see it i don't even scam".
Well, pal, here's the proof. You see those pageviews over there? Yea, people come through here often, so you will be seen.

Vacation for Ol' Minty!

So, although I haven't found many scammers to post about lately, I'd like everyone to know that I won't be able to be reached starting about 5:00 AM Ohio time this Saturday. This will last until Sunday, I think. I'm flying to Colorado with my dad and sister, so if I even get any time on the Internet (which I probably won't) it'll only be about 1-5 minutes of time. Wish me luck that the plane doesn't crash!
No, seriously... I'm worried about that....

Carlagotswag (non-member)

Hey guys! Agent Shiver here with a post that I've been meaning to post for awhile now. Ever since my computer's internet got all crazy, I wasn't able to post anything on the SWS blog. My parents and I finally figured it out, so, here we go!

This scammer's username is: Carlagotswag

Carla was a scammer I found a long time ago on a scammer patrol that I found in one of my "Needs Sorting" folders, but she's still worth posting. I found her in the Jamaa Township saying, "Find the plush at my den and get a spike!"
I was interested in seeing if she actually HAD a spike, so I went.

Literally as soon as I got there, she said, "Oh, I have to log off it's here." I asked her what she meant, and she said she was referring to me! She told me I would post her on the AJSWS blog and she would get banned from AJ for scamming.

Carla then just locked her den (hey that rhymes) and logged out after her encounter with me.
I never got any pictures of her actually scamming, but I would say she is a scammer since she fears me and said she'd get banned for scamming.

This Didn't Go As Planned..

The Jammer Cup has been cancelled due to nobody participating in the first round - that was short-lived. I will likely host it again next month, when we get more organized. Until then, return to regular scam catching.

Hey its Electro, this is my second post today. I'm here with another scammer, Xxchewymarshmallowzx

Here is also her necklaces, indicating its either a trust or flash
I couldn't catch her advertising in time but she was doing a black long giveaway.
And to the looks of it she doesn't have a black long.

Here, she is saying, "its flash, but if you need proof of the black long say apples" everyone said apples so she brought in her member main. If it wasn't fake why are you doing it on your backup?

this is her main, grace10844 showing us the black long.

See locked out anyone who said she was a scammer and then finally, she accepted something and locked us all out.

Hello, Its Electro. AJHQ changed my username on my new jammer, electrobrowniee.. So now I'm awfulpancakes. Anyway, I'm here with a scammer, rrr1250.

This is her saying, "contest outfit giveaway my den" I doubt someones giving away a headdress, pink long spike collar and wrist, and more.

In the first picture you see her saying, "its a trading comptetion"
In the second picture shes saying, "there are going to be three rounds" She also told us that the best trade wins the round. She had a rare helmet on trade which is a way of people trading a higher value of things. After a few people traded a girl one the first round. But she never traded her once. So im guessing the "winner" is her, or her friend.

She supposedly won the long blue collar.
2nd round came and someone traded there spike..
and guess what happened?

we got locked out.
Sorry for this long post!
Jam, dont scam!

I trade a rare shark fin and non member den portal and she accepted. I said to give it back, she said no and locked her den.
Watch out for this scammer and stay safe!
