Hello all, Dan here with a bit of a shorter post, but a post nonetheless. We had a recruiting session on December 27th, and this person was here. I noticed them out of everyone else in the den as soon as I walked in on account of them bragging about how they were a scammer.

SWS 4th Birthday Party

Hello all. It's that time of the year once more - 2017 is wrapping up and we are getting closer to January of the new year. And you know what that means? It's time to celebrate the society's birthday. The officially recognized date for the society's birthday is on January 4th, but we will be doing an RSVP to find out which date more people are available to go to.

If you plan on attending the party, please fill out this form. Entries will close Saturday, December 30th, at which point we will be taking RSVPs for the time of the party.

We hope to see you all there.

Hello all, Dan here. This scammer was caught while we were giving out items for our Christmas Drive. bladersdust12 was advertising that if you gifted them a rare they would give you something in return ("Gift Me A Rare And Get Something, Merry Christmas! :D"). I took the time to deal with them while the other agents were giving out items.

Christmas Drive Outcome

Hello all! Today, we gave out our items for this year's Christmas Drive. We didn't have the time to get through all the items, but we got through a good chunk of what we planned to give out. We will be giving out the rest of the items over the course of the next week, or for however long it'll take to get them all out. If we get lucky, we may even have leftovers for our next big event.
A huge thanks to all our agents who walked around and helped us give out the items today, as well as to all those who couldn't be there but took the time to donate to the cause. Thank you, and we'll see you in the new year!

Christmas Drive 2017

Hello all, it's that time of the year again. Those who were around last year will know what I'm talking about, but newcomers may not. Every year, the SWS does the Christmas Drive. In the months leading up to December, the team works together to gather as many rare items as we can, and then, on December 26th, we give every single one out to random people.
This year, we have approximately 380 items we will be giving out, and any agent or friend of the society is invited to join us.

When? - Tuesday, December 26th, 1:30 PM PST (SWS Time)

Where? - Meet in ShadowclawXX's den

It's recommended you come a few minutes earlier. We will be in the den to start prepping at around 1:05 PM if you'd like to come by then. If you have any last-minute donations, now or then would be the time to give them to us.

We hope to see you all there!

Update Notes 19/12/2017

Hello all, and welcome to the new updates to the society. These aren't really "new updates", but rather an overview of what's changed and what is going to change now that we're really getting the society up and running.

For the first update, the ranking system has been tweaked. Each rank now has specific tasks and roles to fulfill, as well as set-in-stone requirements one must meet in order to be promoted. This is to get rid of one of the problems we had last year, where agents were being repeatedly told they would be promoted soon if they worked harder, only to never move up as the council forgot about their promise. This information can be found on the Other Info page.

For the second update, we are currently working on making a Discord server for the society. The xat plugin we are currently using for our chat rooms is quite outdated and tedious to use and the only useful future it boasts at the moment is the ability to broadcast YouTube videos, which is already possible with newer, more functional programs. The server itself is mostly set up and we are making the journey of migrating our communications there instead. If all goes according to plan, we may eventually remove the xat chat rooms. If you are unable to create a Discord, speak to a Council Member and we may be able to work out a compromise.
The chat rooms will not be deleted soon, and an announcement will be made when they are. The Discord's join link may be going up within the next few days

For the third update, the way rookie recruiting and training works will be changed. We will still have recruiting sessions on AJ, but instead of performing the interviews there, we will direct the applicants to the website so they can fill out the application themselves. This is to help us be more informed when it comes to the agents in the society.
Training will be conducted in the #training channel on our Discord server. It will be accompanied by hands-on scam catching exercises performed in Dan's den on AJ.

For the fourth update, our layout for basic scammer posts has been changed. The format will be given to agents once they finish their training and are ready to start making their own posts. We are currently working on a new, more functional layout for scammer goldmine posts, since we don't like how they were handled before.

For our last update (for now), we will still be participating in our Christmas activities this year. That means that we will be giving out all items on our Christmas drive backups on December 26th, as well as hosting our "Meet Santa" events throughout this week. The Secret Santa exchange will not be happening this year, on account of the fact we have very few agents who would be willing to participate, as well as the fact it did not go well in previous years.

What's poppin' Jimbo, it's Vic here with my first scammer post in decades. This scammer in particular was caught by one of our newer agents, purplepenguinskater, and I'm writing for them as they are unable to post yet. They spotted the scammer in question advertising a giveaway in Jamaa Township, so they went to their den to investigate.

Hello, Dan here. Today we have a rather interesting situation. Our newer agents recently uncovered a scammer who records their scamming endeavors and posts them on YouTube, because some people just have way too much time on their hands and no hobbies. The YouTube channel in question is Tokka - they blur out their username(s) in videos, but that's a story for another post.
We started rooting through their comments section for people trying to join them who were not as clever and decided to leave their usernames out in the open. Whether any of these people have really scammed is anyone's guess, but they sure claim to, and if they want to be on the website then we'll let them be on the website. Bagofwaffles is our first scammer from this chain.

Hey all, it's Dan here. Today we have a scammer that one of our newer agents alerted me to - Reesesthecat. They were sitting in their den, trying to get the few other people there to trust trade them.

Hey guys, Pixyl here again. Today we have a trust trader. This scammer was extremely uncooperative, which is always fun to deal with. They started out by advertising that if you traded them rares for a bad item, they would trade you back their first birthday cake.

Hey, it’s Pixyl. Today we have a giveaway scammer. I didn’t manage to get many pictures of the actual scam for this one, so I apologize in advance. This scammer offered to give away their spike, which was a rare yellow long.

Hey all, Dan here. It's been ages, but we're finally back! I haven't caught scammers in a long time, and this one was a little uncooperative, but hey, it's a start. I was in Coral Canyons when I noticed this person sitting to the side and advertising that the first trade they accept will get their outfit.

What happened to the SWS?

Howdy.

So, Cerise and I have some things to explain; some things regarding how we said we would come back in August and then we never did, why there has been almost no activity on this blog for months, what happened to all the old council members, etc. This is gonna be a long post.

To tell the truth, we just don't know what to do with the society anymore.

We both want to keep this thing running, we really do, but we just can't. We don't have any long-term motivation to actually keep it alive and functioning. We genuinely wanted to revive it back in August, and while I can't speak for Cerise, setting a deadline for ourselves was just exhausting and our motivation diminished faster than we could work.

Personally, part of the reason I want to revive it is that I seriously regret how I acted back in late 2016. I was going through a depressive phase and, honestly, the way I acted back then was just downright pathetic. Sure, I was a good agent, but what's the point of being a good agent if you don't have a good attitude to back it up? I want to prove to you guys that I'm not just some bitter jerk who constantly whines about how "bad" her life is and hopefully make it up to you.

The bad attitude point rings true for most of the agents in 2016 as well. A lot of the agents, ourselves included, were very hostile towards rookies and other agents. Being frustrated with rookies or getting overwhelmed during recruiting is one thing - persistently insulting and being standoffish towards newer agents is another. Since we all acted this way, we never saw any problem with it, so we just sat there and looked the other way while we wondered why every new agent got pushed away from us or left after a day or two.

And then there's the issue with all the other council members. Most of them quit or straight up disappeared without a trace, and some of them we just don't want to associate with anymore due to some events that occurred during the time we’ve been closed. I'm willing to talk about what happened to the ones I know about and was personally involved with, but preferably through the chat room. On top of this, most of, if not all of our agents either went inactive or left us with no way to contact them. This means that we would have little to no one around if we were to reopen.

So, without any other council members or agents, we need to go back to the drawing board on our own if we want to continue the society. As much as we’d all like to, we can't exactly just say "SOCIETY'S OPEN LOL" and have everything go back to the way it was. This operation has been dormant for many months now and things aren’t going to resume that easily. We have to start over and rebuild the society from the ground up if we want any chance of getting things back to the way they used to be. We need new rules and our own revised system that can fit both us and our agents with minimal slip-ups. While I've always admired the SWS for being considerably more coordinated and structured than other scam catching teams, there was much more disorganization, confusion, and general laziness going on behind the scenes during 2016 than you may think. People were slacking off, communication was poor, we didn’t even have a real requirement system for promoting agents, which often led to council members stringing agents along with the promise of “you’ll be promoted soon, you just need to work more” for weeks or even months on end.

All in all, Cerise and I do want to start the society back up again. We both miss the good times we had with the other agents. I miss looking forward to getting on chat everyday and having a family of people to come back to. Despite each and every one of its flaws, I felt at home in the SWS and I miss the sense of familiarity I once had with it. I know the society can’t last forever, nothing can, but I don’t want it to end on such a sour note. I don’t want it to be associated with petty internet drama rather than a group of caring people making Animal Jam a safer place.

I’m going to start being more active on chat, and you can direct any personal questions to me there since I don’t feel comfortable with giving out my Email in the comments. I want to thank all of you for the support you’ve shown over the years. We won’t necessarily be accepting any sign-ups for at least a little while, but we would greatly appreciate it if you could speak up with any thoughts or suggestions. We haven’t made any final decisions yet, but we will update you if something major happens.

Kudos to you if you made it this far. Let’s make 2018 a better year. Have a good one.

Yesterday and the Future

Hello agents and viewers. As you all know, yesterday was the society's 3rd birthday party. Thank you to everyone who attended, as we had to announce some big news for the society. The society will, afer 3 years of service, be closing its doors. Whether it be permanently or just for awhile, we simply cannot continue to support the society right now.
When we announced this at the party, we had some people who wanted to help dig the society out of this metaphorical ditch by finding new members or even advertising on their YouTube channels or websites, likely because they simply didn't understand why the society was closing. We unfortunately even had one person who started insulting us and called us selfish for wishing to close the society. If you were one of these people or you share a similar mindset, please take a moment to read this handy-dandy explanation as to why the society is closing.

This society was created to stop scammers and to help people. However, we have a very small amount of agents who are active, and even fewer are capable of doing their jobs, let alone willing. We only have 2 active council members, which isn't enough to lead a society. Recruiting has been a failure and any of the rookies we seem to pick up from it either don't do work or leave within a week. These factors combined means that next to no work is being done, which defeats the purpose of the society. At the moment, the society only seems to be a source of stress for anyone working, and this is the polar opposite of what its intended function was.
If you still think we are selfish for deciding to close the society out of concern for our agents' mental health, then I hate to say that you are the selfish one for wanting us to continue in poor working conditions solely for the pleasure of others.

On a happier note, this society has also done many good things. Scam catching aside, many wonderful friendships and relationships have been formed through this society. I've met many friends during my time here who I will keep in my heart forever, and I'm sure that many of the other agents could say the same.

So I suppose this is goodbye for now. Until the society ever gets rebooted, presumably under new rules, this website will remain in archive mode, meaning it will not be updated but it will stay live. The chat rooms will remain active and moderated, just don't come on expecting us to help you with any scammers. Please note that the original owner (Mod Cerise)  retains ownershipofr the society and she is the only one who has the privilege to reactivate it. If you see anybody claiming that the society is opening again or that they will be rebooting the society themselves and the message does not come directly from the blog, it is a lie.
If you were an active follower of this blog and wish to receive an update for when it gets rebooted, you can follow the blog by inputting your email address on the follow widget located on the left sidebar of the blog. If you are an agent who wishes to continue the dream of scam catching, we have plans for you as well. Speak to a council member if you would like to know more.

Thank you all for your continued support through these 3 great years, we'll see you next time.

-Mod Cerise

SWS 3rd Birthday Party

It's that time of the year again. 2016 is over already, and we're starting off a new year. At this time of year, we celebrate the SWS' birthday. This year is going to be the same, but this will unfortunately be the society's last birthday party. But a birthday nonetheless.

Since we didn't get around to doing the Christmas drive, we'll be giving out all the gifts first thing, starting at around 10:00 AM SWS Time. Meet in ShadowclawXX's den. After all the gifts have been given out, which we plan to take about an hour, we will go back to ShadowclawXX's den and start the actual party. There will be giveaways, music streaming on Chat Room 1, and other festivities for all.

When - Saturday January 7th, 12:00 PM SWS Time
(shown directly on the left sidebar)

Where - ShadowclawXX's Den, Chat Room 1

I hope to see you all there. Thank you for 3 great years.

Feathers here with another scammer I caught on December 30th.  (Credits to manuel26 for unintentionally helping me!)

Her list was all of the spikes she owned (I'm assuming,) some better than others

So naturally, I went to her den and then she attempted to do an obvious scam. (She's Mythical Fastpaw, Handsome is just some dude that came along for the give away)

And then she takes all her stuff off and replaces it with an item you can easily buy in stores.

We start trading her, and when we don't accept for obvious reasons:

And then, manuel26 helped get me proof:

So, I buddy her. (I don't trust her.) manuel, again helps me out.

Sure you will. Anyhow, just to confirm, I sent her a decent trade. Of course, she accepted.

No, you didn't. ಥ_ಥ

When asked what the prize is, this was her response.

And then when I told her I was a member of the AJSWS and that she was being constantly screen shotted-

I didn't get a picture of this, but I was actually manuel who had the party hat. I'm pretty sure she isn't manuel.

Sure you were. Anyways, she wanted to know the AJSWS website, and when I couldn't tell her, she locked me out.

Hello. Flint here, found them on the First Day on 2017!!!

This caught my attention.

Yes, yes, I know it was on trade. Wait.

See? She will give us a rare if we over-trade her.

This sounds more like a scam.

I said that she may have been scamming.

She also said this.

Look, guys, she's getting a spike for her cousin!
Her cousin is the Bepper fox on the right.

This is the person who is her 'cousin'.
'

I said to the 'cousin' that her cousin was scamming for her. She didn't react.
I called her a scammer. The penguin on the bottom is me.

The cousin spoke! I didn't know she could do that!

I said something intelligent in response, but I named it something weird and I can't find the picture I took of it. I called them a scammer again.

That isn't the point, though. I want to help gullible people.
Then this person came.

SHE DIDN'T EVEN GET THE SPIKE THOUGH
SHE NO SCAM SCAM

 Yes, it is.

Report Liz for scamming, and possibly the Bepper fox.
